August 27, 2013 – Langley, BC – Andres Rodriguez rode away with $3,000 in bonus money in the SSG Gloves ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion held during the 2013 Thunderbird Show Park competition season in Langley, BC.  The Venezuelan scored his second grand prix victory in a row wearing SSG ‘Digital’ riding gloves, claiming the $100,000 CSI2* Canaccord Genuity World Cup Grand Prix held Sunday, August 25, during the CSI2*-W Summer Fort Festival.

In its third year at Thunderbird Show Park, the ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion saw Canadian glove manufacturer SSG Gloves offering a total of $12,000 in bonus money to reward both hunter and jumper riders for their loyalty to the SSG brand.

Rodriguez had earned a $2,000 bonus from SSG Gloves after winning the $55,000 CSI2* Fort Classic Grand Prix held August 17, and returned to the winner’s circle the following week with yet another win aboard Caballito in the $100,000 Canaccord Genuity World Cup Grand Prix.  Once again donning his SSG ‘Digitals’, Rodriguez picked up an additional $1,000 SSG bonus.

“It is such a great program and a great motivator for the athletes,” said Rodriguez, 29, of the SSG Gloves ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion.  “I’m especially impressed with the way it gives back directly to the sport.  I really appreciate their sponsorship.”

As for the ‘Digital’ style riding gloves, Rodriguez noted, “I love the fit and quality of my SSG’s.  I highly recommend that other riders try them.”

In the hunter derby field, Jay Duke was the recipient of a $1,000 bonus as the winner of the $1,500 Dexter Associates Realty Canadian Hunter Derby held August 22.  With two entries in the 31-horse starting field, Duke doubled his chances of winning.  However, it was a score of 99 aboard Terry Garfield’s Hennepin County that sealed the deal.

“SSG ‘Digitals’ are the only gloves that I ride in,” said Duke of Calgary, AB.  “The feel of the ‘Digitals’ is sensitive, yet firm.  The make it easier to keep a constant feel with the horse’s mouth, leading to better performance.”

A first-time winner in the SSG Gloves ‘Go Clean for the Green’ promotion, Duke added, “The program is an excellent incentive for riders and a well-appreciated bonus.  Thank you to SSG for their generous sponsorship.”

The CSI2*-W Fort Summer Festival, held August 21 through 25, concluded the third season of the SSG Gloves ‘Go Clean for Green’ sponsorship at Thunderbird Show Park.  For more information about SSG Gloves and to find a retailer near you, please visit www.ssgridinggloves.com.
